This week’s theme is based on Michael Frost’s small but powerful little book called Surprise the World: The Five Habits of Highly Missional People. In it he issues a gentle challenge and a simple set of steps to help us enhance the way we share Jesus with our neighbours and friends.
In Colossians 4:3 the apostle Paul ask his readers to pray for him “that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ” and he urges them to be “wise in the way you act towards outsiders; make the most of every opportunity.”
That is our prayer too, that following the guidance found here we might become a little more confident and effective as we show and tell others about our faith, and that we might be encouraged as we do so.
To hear Michael Frost introduce each of the five topics in the book, in videos produced to encourage Baptist churches in Australia, please click on the following six links:
To make the most of this resource it is recommended that you read the book for yourself. It contains much more information and encouragement than we can cover in one session. The book can be ordered online from a number of places at varying prices. The following online bookshop links may help but there are many others too.
An earlier version of this resource was published on the Exponential website as a free pdf eBook and can be downloaded here. It would of course be better to purchase and read the updated and expanded book as shown above!
